In Lanjaron, Andalucia, Spain.

If you've taken part in one of our spring training camps you'll know all about the fantastic terrain and quiet roads in this unspoilt area of southern Spain. This week takes the challenge to the next level by working towards and taking part in the 2nd Alpujarra Gran Fondo Sportive. This features two options, covering 128 km with 2930m of climbing or a longer version over 166km with 4120m of climbing.

If you can concentrate with the breathtaking views of the mountains and the coast there are also two timed climbing sections up to the mountain range of Haza de Lino and Spain's highest village of Trevelez to crown the 'Magna Climber' of the day.

While the emphasis of the week is of course the sportive, we will head out from our base in Orgiva, just 8km from the event start town in Lanjaron, for training rides to practice your climbing and descending over the week while staying fresh for the Gran Fondo.

As always with Custom Cycle Coaching, this will be a small and intimate camp to give you maximum enjoyment and help to work on your climbing and descending in the lead up to the event with video footage and analysis to ensure you get the best possible preparation for the Fondo. Check out this video for an idea of the riding and hospitality you can expect or for more details on the area check out this article on Wheelsuckers.

Included in the price is your entry fee to the Gran Fondo (there is a 10 euro surcharge if you don't have a valid licence, for example through British Cycling), breakfast and evening meals and airport transfers:

£480 per 6 day trip - sharing a twin room with en-suite bathroom

£550 per 6 day trip - single occupancy

Reviews - this is what some of our customers have to say about the camps...

''The Alpujarra region is a hidden gem for cycling, and Tom knows the roads (and the cafes) like a local. I’ve been out for the last 4 years, and it’s a superb place to start the season on the right foot. The roads are quiet, and well surfaced, and the routes are amazing…whether you want long climbs, coast rides, or even the occasional easy day to a café, Tom has you covered. The camps are relaxed, friendly affairs, with options for longer or shorter rides over a variety of terrain, but always beautiful views.''
